A great fish curry recipe to try !
  • Fresh Fish (like Pompfret, King Fish, etc)
  • Red Chilly Powder - quarter tsp (for marinating the fish)
  • Turmeric powder - quarter tsp ( for marinating the fish )
  • Fresh Grated Coconut - one cup
  • Red Chilly Powder - half tsp.
  • (depends on how hot you want the curry. If you like hot food, you may increase the quantity)
  • Turmeric powder - half tsp.
  • Tamarind - half inch
  • Onion - one (small)
  • Dried coriander seeds - 1 tsp
  • Pepper - quarter tsp
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Salt - to taste

Clean the fish, wash and apply quarter tsp red chilly powder, quarter tsp turmeric powder, salt and keep aside.Cut finely half of the onion.
Grind finely coconut, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, tamarind, half of the onion, coriander seeds, pepper.
In a vessel, put oil and add the finely cut onion. When onion gets cooked, add the marinated fish and let cook with onion for 1 min. Then add the ground coconut mixture. Add little water (quantity of water depends on how thick you want the curry. But the curry taste good when it is a little thick).
Add salt to taste. Remove from fire when curry boils. The fish curry recipe f oGoan is ready..enjoy it !

Easy Thai Fish Curry Recipe

A nice fish curry recipe to try !

* 3-4 fillets of fresh or frozen fish - any type, from sole to salmon (feeds 2-3 hungry people)
* handful of fresh mushrooms, sliced
* 1 red pepper, de-seeded and diced
* 1 medium tomato, cut into small pieces
* handful of fresh basil
* handful of fresh coriander
* fresh lime or lemon wedges for garnish
* optional: 2-3 kaffir lime leaves, left whole (available at Asian stores, usually in the freezer)

* 1/2 cup fresh coriander stems and leaves, chopped
* 1 can good-quality coconut milk
* 4 green onions, sliced (including green stem)
* 1 thumb-size piece galangal or ginger, grated
* 4 cloves garlic
* 2 Tbsp. fish sauce (available at Asian food stores)
* 1 Tbsp. regular chili powder (use only 1 tsp. if using Thai or East Indian chili powder)
* 2 tsp. ground cumin
* 2 tsp. ground coriander
* 2 tsp. brown sugar (or more to taste)
* 1/2 tsp. turmeric
* 1 tsp. shrimp paste
* 1 fresh red chili, minced, OR 1/2 tsp. cayenne OR dried crushed chili, OR 1-2 tsp.chili sauce


1. Place all 'Thai Curry Sauce' ingredients in a food processor, chopper, or blender. Process well to form a smooth curry sauce.
2. Pour the sauce into a wok (or large frying pan) and place over medium to high heat. If you have kaffir lime leaves, add them too. Bring to a boil.
3. Add fish, mushrooms, and red pepper. Stir well. Reduce heat to medium-high, or until it is simmering nicely. Cover and cook 6-8 minutes.
4. Add the tomatoes and gently stir in. Continue simmering (covered) for another 2-3 minutes.
5. Do a taste test for salt and sweetness, adding more fish sauce (instead of salt) until salty enough. If too sour for your taste, add a little more sugar. If too salty or sweet, add 1-2 Tbsp. fresh lime (or lemon) juice.
6. Slide the fish with curry sauce and vegetables onto a serving platter or into a serving bowl. Sprinkle with fresh basil and coriander. Garnish with lime or lemon wedges and serve hot with rice. The fish curry recipe of Thai is ready to serve.. Enjoy!

  • 1 kg white fleshed fish
  • 250 gms tomatoes blanched & diced
  • 2 tbsp beaten curd
  • 1 inch piece ginger
  • 6 flakes garlic
  • 2 cloves
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • small piece cinnamon bark
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 cardamom
  • 1 onion
  • few mint leaves
  • 1 slice bread soaked & squeezed dry
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 8 green chillies
  • small bunch coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • oil to fry
  • Salt To Taste

* Boil the fish and remove the bones nicely.
* Mince the small onion, 4 green chilies, mint, coriander leaves and blend with the fish along with bread, salt and garam masala powder.
* Knead to a smooth mixture, form into small balls and deep fry to a golden brown colour. Drain and set aside. Pound together the remaining spices to a fine powder.
* Grind onion, ginger and garlic to a paste. Heat 3 table spoons of ghee and fry the ground paste to a golden brown colour.
* Put in spices and fry for a couple of seconds, then put in tomatoes and curd.
* Cook till the ghee floats to the top. Put in 2 cups of water, mix nicely and cook over a low fire till all the liquid dries. Mash to a smooth paste with the help of a wooden spoon and then pour in 2 more cups of water.
* Bring to a rolling boil, reduce heat and simmer gently for 5 minutes.
* Put in the fish balls and simmer for 5 more minutes.
* The fish curry recipe is ready to serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.

  • 1 cup coriander leaves chopped
  • 2 tomatoes finely chopped
  • 8 cloves garlic
  • 2 green chillies chopped
  • 1 tsp methi seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • A pinch turmeric powder
  • Salt To Taste
  • oil as required.


* Marinate the fish in salt and turmeric powder for 15 minutes.
* Shallow fry the fish pieces, drain and keep aside.
* Grind the coriander leaves, garlic and green chillies.
* Heat oil, add masala paste and fry till the oil separates out.
* Add tomatoes, methi seeds and powder masalas and fry till the oil begins to float on top.
* Add about 1 cup water. Bring the gravy to a boil.
* Add the fish slices and cook for 10 minutes.
